If you are like most travelers then you are probably bothered by packing problems whenever you go on a trip. In trying to decide what to bring, you probably end up with most of your belongings laid out in your bed and trying to find a way to fit them all in you suitcases.

Even though leaving something behind can be a scary possibility when you are traveling to a new destination, there are actually things that you can afford to leave behind. If you insist on carrying everything you own, not only will you pay extra dollars at the airport but you will also have one difficult time in carrying your bags around. Read on for some advice.

Don’t pack your entire bathroom and makeup table. Unless you are vacationing in a deserted island that’s fit for Survivor contestants, chances are the hotel or resort you will be staying at will have the basic toiletries. Don’t weigh down your bags with huge bottles of shampoos, conditioners, three bars of soap and thick towels.

For your makeup, try to put everything in a compact zip-up bag that won’t take much room in your suitcase.

People go on vacations to relax and enjoy, not to audition as the next big red carpet celebrity. Leave home the fancy jewelry at home. Tourists are often easy prey for local muggers so it’s best to try and not attract attention.

Guide books are handy materials that can really be helpful when you are going on a trip. But if you are bringing six volumes of guidebooks in your bag, then you have a problem. Instead, pick one good guidebook to bring along with you and leave the rest home.
