When it comes to male and female travelers, safety rules are generally the same. However, there are some special precautions that women must keep in mind when going to a foreign destination, especially when traveling alone.

Female travelers usually have carry-on bags aside from their luggage so be sure to take advantage of this by putting all your valuables in your carry-on bag. To be more safe, try to divide you money and put them in several locations. You can even put some in a pouch which you can slip into your bra.

Packing your earrings can be tricky when traveling. Because they are so small, they often tend to get lost. To keep your earrings and other small accessories in place, you can place them in those little lipstick carriers so they are secure.

Another mistake that female travelers must be sure to avoid is wearing clothes that are too provocative or attention-getting. Even if you are going to a place where it’s extremely hot, opt for cool modest clothing such as short-sleeved t-shirts, shorts and such. You might also want to read up on your destination’s customs to find out the acceptable mode of dressing for women. For instance, showing too much skin is still unacceptable for most countries in the Middle East.
