Women travelers, perhaps due to their physical vulnerability, often need to be more careful when they are traveling to a foreign country. Whether you are traveling alone, with a companion or with a group of people, it’s still important to keep in mind some important precautions to make sure you protect yourself at all times during your trip.

If you are renting a car to get around in your destination, be sure that you always lock car doors whether you are inside or outside the vehicle. It’s also important that you remove signs from the car that might tip off a criminal that you are a tourist who’s unfamiliar with the place. For instance, road maps and car rental stickers should not be in plain view.

Exploring a foreign country is also not the time to show off your expensive Fendi or Channel bag. Showing off such pricey purses can attract petty thieves who happen to know their designer goods. Instead, use a more drab purse if you have to or just a find a cute fanny pack that can go around your waste.

Your stay at your hotel will probably prove to be safe but this doesn’t mean that you can let your guard down already. For instance, try not to take a room on the main floor and avoid using stairs that are abandoned. You might also want to leave a radio or TV on in your room when you leave to give the illusion that your room is always occupied.
